New York, Westchester & Boston (NYWB) Railway East 180 Street Station
Built 1911, the elevated NYWB station at East 180 Street remains in use by NYCT for IRT non-revenue and storage use. The NYWB trackage had continued south to a connection with the New Haven Railroad main line (now Amtrak/CSX Northeast Corridor) and was used as an interchange between the IRT and the North American main line railroad network, with new car deliveries and freight shipments to the IRT such as ballast hopper carloads, ties, track materials and work equipment interchanged here until the connection was severed in 1979.
