Album Info:Throughout the Garden State, freight and express stations stand along many current and former rail lines. Each holds history and is a remaining relic of the era when railroads, not trucking companies were the specialists in less-than-carload (LCL) or less-than-truckload (LTL) freight and express shipments.

Title:  Blairstown freight station
Description:  Built 1912, on the Lackawanna Stanhope-Slateford Cutoff. This freight station still stands, albeit slightly modified as a garage for a local demolition company. Blairstown is home to Blair Academy (www.blair.edu), a private boarding school founded by John Blair (on the DL&W Railroad board in the 19th century).

Description:  The DLW's Lake Hopatcong station had a freight platform to the west of the passenger station. The freight platform was adjacent to the Morris Canal until 1929 and had a ramp for loading and unloading.

Description:  These are likely the original 1911 cobblestones. The Morris Canal until 1929 ran where the parking area at left is. This ramp was likely originally intended for horse and carriage use for shipping and loading.
